Melrose is a beautiful small town in the Border region of Scotland, lying on the south side of the River Tweed. Rugby fans will know that this is the home of Melrose Rugby Club, the home of Sevens Rugby.
Within walking distance, is the beautiful ruin of St Mary’s Abbey (Melrose Abbey) a former Cistercian monastery founded in 1136. Legend has it that while Robert the Bruce’s body was buried in Dunfermline Abbey, in line with his wishes, his heart was buried at Melrose Abbey. Our stop in this area will be for 1 1/2 hours.
Entry to Melrose Abbey*: Adult £6; Child £3.60
